Smell A Flower, Kid
How it started
"Another freaky clown" is what I've posted in the F4CG discord when sharing the following pic:
And yes, it's definitely another freaky looking fella. I didn't mean to do a series or a follow-up of any kind, but the pointy ears of You're OK, Kid? intruiged me to experiment some more. The hair didn't really work, but most of the other elements were right there from the get-go: the swirley eyes, the crooked mustache and a cig holder.
Replacing the hair was easy, but it somwhat turned the cound into an politican, which was off putting, but let's just put it on the to-fix list. The reworked mouth region turned out to be an improvement. Having the mustache stick out created an interesting shape and adding a lip of sorts boosted the clown's eerieness. Perfect!
Next up: fixing the eyes. The left one was OK from the start, but the other didn't follow through with its broken up spiral. Mirroring would have been easy, but boring, so I've spent some time for figuring out a different pattern that would do the trick.
Back to the hair or, back to the clown's forehead that is. I tried adding eye brows but those were just competing with the eyes and thus got rejected already in doodling stage but what to to with all the empty space, huh?
Let's just get rid of it, shall we, and... wait ... what... Oh, that's something! A freaky firestarter appears!
With the hair being tweaked, moving the flower came up, but in the end, it just didn't really look like anything except where it was placed initially. You won, flower, stay just right there if you like.
With the forhead being smaller now, other features had to step in. The chin got an additional line to keep the slim appearance and to enhance it even further, the mustache grew a couple of centimeters too.
Aaaand done.
Conclusion
What a fun experiement. Keeping a style while fining a new pic is quite an exercise, but giving in an evolving process did lead to an IMHO funny pic.
