How it started

OK, this did turn into a series and I've started the third the next day Smell a Flower, Kid got released. 'Series' would imply that there's an overarching theme, but except 'doing weird clowns' there wasn't really much thought so to speak of. They're more just reactions/continuations of the previous one really.

Anyway, the starting point for this one was a black, pointy clown and for contrast — and after Goerp having mentioned Grim Fandango — an inverted version for going not only pointy but bone-y.

Coughing up one's skull sounds painful, but those clowns being smokers, it's something you have to deal with sooner or later.

The skull turned out pretty neat, huh? The overall composition did feel off though, not matching the first two pics and thus got scraped.

Back to doing a close-up shot, but let's stick to the inverted skull.

What's that between his teeth? A carrot? Well, living clowns go for a death-stick, dead clown go for healthy vitamins. At least, that's what my brains told me to skribble.

With my skull not having any facial hair, the eyes were put into the spotlight and doing a Bowie was a nobrainer; figuring out what would work needed some experimentations. First, I thought "inverting" it too would be the way to go.

Sticking to just differently dialated pupils was what I ended up with, it's not as in-your-face but still whacky.

The outline was finished as well as lots of tiny details added. Having smiley faces appear on the carrot was an happy accident that cought me by surprise and made me chuckle. Jup, those fit right in and also, those would be perfect for the title too.

Next up, tweaking the overall shape. Carrot's too big, jaw's too big. Fixed both.

During the final round of tweaking, details were added and we're finished.

Conclusion

what a fun pic that was. As said in the summary over at CSDb.dk I've noted that In hindsight, it should have been a GFX collection ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and yes, impatiance sometimes trips oneself.

What's CSDb thinking about it
