How it started

Oh, this one started ten months ago with me just having joined F4CG and thus doodling F4CG logos during lunch breaks. According to the group chat, I've shared the this first two variants 2024-06-27:

The blue lines one is ace but it felt too simple in a way, boring even despite its eye-popping colors. The second one was more compelling and got tweaked during the next days.

Going full screen was a lucky accident but worked out great.

Next up, an idea that wasn't put into code but would even further extend the basic idea. Here's a mockup of how it should have looked with the border being two colors and the stripes extending all the way into the corners via sprites:

Aaaand... well... that's more or less when I've decided to start coding and this idea got shelved, but guess what: on 2025-04-1, Raistlin announced another C64GFX.com CharSet Logo Compo and with that, I dug through my old files, stumpled upon this one and decided to start working on it again.

At first, I was just fooling around with the blue lines one, trying to beef it up a bit.

Adding more lines (the hook-ish look harks back to these variants) while keeping an cinemascope look turned out great and the added colors kept the logo popping too.

While fixing all the errors in the font, the purple lines got connected and soon turned into a frame (and the logo breaking this new barriers), which also made it easy switching to a different colord background.

Conclusion

Up to the minute before releasing, I wasn't sure if that's the version that should go out. It's definitely something, but the first, initial one is — despite its simplicity or precisely because of that — rather special too. Then again, it available on this page, so it too got "released" anyways.
